RANE Analyst Takes Eurasia Expertise to the Airwaves

If you follow Eurasia geopolitics, the news this month has been flowing fast and furiously. From the accusations that Russian, Alexei Navalny, was poisoned to the ongoing protests in Belarus over the results of its presidential election. Matt Orr is an analyst with RANE. He was a Graduate Fellow at RANE and Stratfor in the summer of 2020, and is also a graduate student at UT Austin pursuing dual Master’s degrees in Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies and Global Policy Studies. Matt’s take on what’s happening in Eurasia? “It is safe to say the Eurasia is experiencing at least three, potentially interconnected events that pose a threat to regional stability: the unprecedented unrest in the far-eastern city of Khabarovsk, the post-election political crisis on NATO’s doorstep in Belarus, and the suspected poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.” RANE warned clients about the possibility of events like these in both client calls and its geopolitical newsletter, and is providing timely updates on their development via client newsletters. Stratfor offers analysis on such events in a broader geopolitical context and the effects on actors outside the Eurasia region on Threat Lens. Matt also serves as a co-host of the student-run Slavic Connexion podcast about the Eurasia region. In a recent episode, he scored an interview with an interview with Dr. Mark Galeotti, an expert on Russian history and security issues. Their lively conversation, with important insights on Belarus, Russia and more, can be heard here. You can stay focused on what happens next with Stratfor’s Essential geopolitics podcast here. https://worldview.stratfor.com/media/podcasts.
